Hunter, thanks for the info. I think I will take a further look at the
large displacement gasoline engines. A lot of the literature favors
the diesel but mostly it seems that the articles I have read about
them also suggest that they are a bit more trouble and if you don't
really need one you dont' really don't want one. I really love diesel.
I had an '80 Mercedes 240D. And it had that really precise German
rattle at idle and I got where I associated the smell of Kerosine with
quality. But I also remember that as the engine wore more and used oil
I checked out the possiblity of rebuilding the engine. They wanted a
fortune for the parts and for the machine work, boring etc. So I
traded it in for my first pickup. Still miss it though.
