The tail lights on my old '85 25' were a little on the dim side, so
I cleaned every thing up good and painted the reflectors bright
silver then replaced the bulbs with ones.  That helped quit a bit.

I think you could also use the base of an old bulb and solder
and epoxy in one of the newer pin base types which are brighter.
