As I understand the theory you don't want to be running the engine much 
with two different manifolds. The difference in back pressure can cause 
problems of all sorts.
Haven't been under one lately but the heat exchanger shouldn't mind 
where it is mounted. As long as you can find a safe location it would 
then be a matter of resizing the connecting hoses??

Changing cooling units on any refrigerator is, as you say pretty 
straight forward. RVCool on their website has directions at
