That F-150 is only a half-ton truck. 

I'd have looked at one of the F-250 models with the built-in proportional 
trailer brake controller. (Matter of fact, I am looking at one.) 

You really can't do better than one of the Ford F-250 Super-Duty models. There 
isn't a better frame made, the drive train is really built solid (the best 
out there in my opinion), and now the proportional trailer brake controller 
is built-in. Not to mention the great deals lately.

As to the Crown Vic, there is a lot more to be known, such as the engine, the 
rear end gear ratio, and the areas you intend to tow.
