Many thanks to everyone on the list who emailed me about my difficulties
opening my awning. I also called Zip Dee and this is what they said:
Best to lubricate the arms with spray silicone and wipe off the excess.
Use of other lubricants (WD-40 or white lithium grease) will attract
dust and dirt and is more likely to then create problem of grit building
up. So they recommend the silicone.
