There is a "Thor" medallion next to the door. Heard Airstream had
gone bankrupt a few years back and Thor took them over.
In 1980, Wade Thompson and Peter Orthwein acquired Airstream. Within a
year, they returned the company to profitability. They formed Thor (from
the first two letters of their surnames) and from the proceeds started
the acquisition of other RV companies, beginning in 1982 with General
Coach in Canada. Thor allows their divisions to run autonomously. They
are debt-free and cash-rich, and have operated in the black with
positive growth for years.
