I have one of these filters in my 1979 International, but have never 
been able to get it to work properly.

The aluminum base that holds the filter has a lot of corrosion inside 
it and while I've been able to clean most of that out, I can't get 
the filter to insert properly so it always leaks.  Right now I just 
have it shut off with no filter in it.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to clean it, or if there is some 
other trick to stopping leaks that would be appreciated since this is 
on my list of A/S projects and it would be nice to use.

For anyone whose ever bothered to look up inside the base with a 
mirror and flashlight, all the rubber seals are on the filter 
cartridge so you get new ones each time you change it.  My seals look 
good since I have a new cartridge, but corrosion inside the base is 
either not letting the cartridge get pulled up inside the base all 
the way, or the rough surface is preventing a good seal.
