I thought of that when I went surfing for a pic of the outlet.

Assuming that, with a "straight-on"-type plug, the recessed outlet would do
the trick, you could swap-out the plug on the end of the microwave cord.

It sounds like MOVING the outlet to one side might be less hassle.
