I understand completely.  They aren't cheap but, then again, neither is the
RV lifestyle in general or Airstreaming in particular.

There is no denying that, with the Honda, you are paying a premium for the
name.  However, beyond simply the name, there is the Honda reputation for
EXCELLENT reliability.  Then there's the *QUIET*.

Under full load, you can stand over my 2000 and hold a "normal"
conversation.

When it came time to make my purchase, it was going to be the Honda EU
series - period.  My only choice, then, was between the 2000, which would
NOT run my air conditioner, and the 3000, which WOULD run the a/c.

The big difference is that I can handle the 2000 myself.  I put it on the
bathroom scale with a full tank of gas and it was 53 pounds.

The 3000, on the other hand, weighing in at ~148 pounds, would require TWO
persons to move it.

I chose the smaller unit using the following "logic":

If it's sooooo terribly hot that I absolutely MUST have air conditioning, I
can do one of two things:  Find an electric hookup campsite or stay home.

I'm sure that is a fine unit.  It's a GREAT price, no doubt.  However, it
would probably be better suited for use on a job site or as a standby
generator at home.  I believe it would be noisy enough to be a CONSIDERABLE
annoyance in a campground.

It's pretty simple when reading specs on gensets:  If they list the noise
output (dB), it's a particularly QUIET generator.  Your regular,
run-of-the-mill generators (Coleman/Briggs included) do NOT list the noise
output - that I have been able to find.  This omission "says" A LOT to me.
