[A/S] first trip & toilet question
I took my first trip with the A/S this past weekend, off to an agility
trial with all 5 of my dogs (2 goldens, 1 border collie, 1 Chihuahua mix
and 1 golden puppy).
The trip got off to a bad start -- first the trailer brake controller
wasn't making a good connection. Then I couldn't remember the sequence
for de-winterizing and had to call the dealer for help, then I had
trouble filling the fresh H2O tank because water would sometimes gush
back out of the hole (more on that below), and when I got to the trial
grounds, the electric hookup was in a junction box with a lid and my
cord wouldn't fit in it. Fortunately another camper had an adapter that
he loaned me. But the worst was yet to come....
Suddenly I noticed water dripping from underneath. I may be a newbie,
but I knew that couldn't be good! Turned out that the drain on the
freshwater tank was wide open - and all of my water was gone! And, of
course, no water was available at the show site. No wonder water was
bubbling back out periodically as I was trying to fill it -- air was
coming in from the bottom as it was draining, unbeknownst to me. Had to
go to town, buy bottled water and fill the tank halfway to get me
through the weekend.
Things did look up after that, fortunately! I loved being at the show
site, not having to rush in the mornings, being with other campers and
their dogs -- but I really love my trailer! I'm so glad I did this and
I can hardly wait for my next trial in two weeks.
There were a few odd things I noticed throughout the weekend -- one of
which was the toilet doesn't hold water. Isn't there supposed to be a
small amount of water to cover the opening (for odor control)? Short of
taking it to the dealer, is there something I can do to fix this? Thanks!
