[A/S] Airstream, PHD

Greetings,

Two days after we brought home our new Bambi I had to leave town..... 
leaving Dave home alone;-P.   Well, he started reading [and re-reading] 
all about the A/S.   He's getting an educations.  Do all of your really 
do all the maintenance that the manual states you should?   He feels 
like he's getting his PHD.  He's maintained a 42" sailboat and never 
felt overwhelmed.... but this little 19' A/S with hitch is becoming 
overwhelming.  Do you all go by the specs for torquing as recommended?

One thing he found was that the factory had left off one of the plates 
where the jack goes....not a problem as Dave uses a stanchion plate from 
the boat on top of the jack.  It also was missing a couple of rivets 
under there as well.  He replaced them.  AND there seems to be a place 
where some caulking could go as there's a void.  Until I can get under 
there with him [aren't we having fun!] can I describe this.

And, of course, the faucet that is described in the manual isn't in our 
Bambi.  Still searching the material for that with info on the filter.

Another question, while removing the plastic cover on the mattress I 
discovered the two holes where there are valves for the water heater and 
draining the tanks.  Do you use these for anything else but for winterizing?
