Dick,
The input expansion unit is Sony Part # XA-300.  You have to have a Sony
head unit that accepts the expansion unit, but most of them do.  To control
the 12 disc changer, it too has to be Sony and accept the UniLink cable.
This is the same cable that would normally connect the changer directly to
the head unit, but with the XA-300 in the loop, the changer connects to the
XA-300, which in turn is connected to the head unit via another UniLink
cable.  All goes together easily.  The additional inputs are via standard
RCA type audio connections.  How the head unit displays the additional
inputs depends on the head unit.  I ordered mine from Crutchfield at a cost
of $99.99 + $5.99 shipping, but that was a couple of years ago.
