Please go to the following web page
http://www.zipdeeinc.com/CurvedAwnOp.html and look at the instructions on
how to extend and retract the awning. It sounds like you stopped someplace
around step 4 or 5 in the process. Look the web page over, then come back
with any questions you still have.
