It is good that you had a chance to drive each vehicle.  I moved up from a 
1/2 ton 4X4 reg. cab shortbed pickup to a 3/4 ton 4X4 ext. cab shortbed 
pickup and the only concern I had was visibility when driving around town.  
That was quickly put to the side as I got use to the truck.  While diesel 
prices are high right now, I think you will really enjoy the Duramax down 
the road if you chose it.
