Since we're talking about how to configure your Suburban to take both your
dog and your satellite dish with you, I thought I'd throw in my experience.
We have a "rubber" cover for the rear part of the cargo area that goes up as
far as the back of the second seat. I have folded the second seat into the
floor so there is a flat area behind the two front captains seats. I have a
carpet hammock that runs from the top of the rear of the front seat, down
the back of the front seat, across the flat area to the place where the
rubber cover starts. At that point I've installed a steel mesh that I got at
a pet store in Corpus Christi and that goes from the flat area to the
ceiling and side to side. It keeps the tools, satellite dish, tripod,
portable solar panel and all the other joy I carry from flying forward when
I stop suddenly. (His majesty the Royal Canadian Golden Retriever has the
entire area from the back of the front seat to the steel mesh to wander
about in although mostly he just rests---it is so tiring )
I really haven't found anything I dislike about that configuration, except
my tool box always seems to be against the mesh rather than at the doors at
the rear where I can reach it.
