RE: [A/S] Yet Another Tow Vehicle Question Towing with Fresh Water in the Trailer Tank
The only rationale for towing with a lot of fresh water in the tank (unless
you will need it at your destination or is unavailable en route) is to lower
the center of gravity of the trailer so it will tow better.
Unlike SOBs, the Airstream axle system allows the tanks to sit low in the
chassis, and thus lower the center of gravity of the trailer. This will
reduce roll if you drive like a cowboy, or have to swerve to avoid
something. Otherwise, any extra weight is a real drag, and takes more power
to pull it and more brakes to slow or stop it.
