The split reat seat is not new. My '03 has 60/40 rear seats. Under the
seats is a walled-off storage compartment. Nothing rolls under there -
either you put it there, or it is not.
There is an optional flat "lash-down" cargo surface under the fold-up seats
also. And with that 60/40 split, you can have just the one side in the
storage or cargo mode, and the other side in the passenger mode. And that
can be either the 60 side or the 40 side. Makes sense to me.
Next time you want something interesting to do, let a salesman show you the
rear seat storage options in the Dodge. I am very pleased with the setup in
my '03.
