You said it.  My 2002 Silverado 2500HD 4x4 is RIDICULOUSLY high off the
ground.  I see NO reason for it other than macho appeal to the younger guys.

You don't "get" into my pickup - you CLIMB into it.  My wife is a 5'4" BBW
(big, beautiful woman) and has a devil of a time hoisting herself into our
pickup.  It's stupid.  Does the automaker REALLY believe that I would take
that much $$ OFF ROAD to such an extreme that I'd NEED that much ground
clearance?  Not I, said the duck.    :\

Of that, I have NO doubt.  Whether the improved ease of entry and exit is
WORTH the "price" (babysitting a 28-year-old tow vehicle) is certainly
debatable.  In any case, cubic inch for cubic inch, I'll bet you don't get
much better gas mileage than a pickup, though.

(Don't get me wrong:  I think towing a classic Airstream behind a classic
automobile is waaaaay cool!)
