When taking off for the too infrequent, 9-day trip, this Nebraskan and his
DW always seem to head west.  Since our last visit (of four, over the years)
to Rocky Mountain National Park ended two days early, mostly a bust, I want
to head EAST next time.

We're both 51.  Since Leslie stayed home to raise our three girls, she
doesn't have enough time on her job to get more than two weeks off at-a-time
so we mostly have to keep our fun a day's drive away - for a few more years,
anyway.  It's occasionally frustrating to me:  After 32 years with the phone
company (April 2), I get oodles of paid time off.   <sigh>

When I was 15, along with my brother, sister and mom, we towed a little
popup behind a 1965 Chevy Impala sport coupe with the 2-bbl 283 V8.  We
camped a night in the desert, visited Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon before
we made it to my big brother's house in Redondo Beach, California.

In 1976, almost three years after getting married (NO kids yet!), Leslie and
I drove our 1975 Chevy Vega to visit my sister in Key West Florida, doing
her hitch at the air station there.  We had a blast!   :)

On the way we toured Mammoth Cave, Kentucky.

Then we stayed a couple of nights with some friends in Savannah, Georgia.

The four of us then drove to Walt Disney World for a whirlwind tour of The

I want to do it again in a few years, but head north-northeast.

I think I'd like to visit New England in an Airstream trailer.

Mrs. MacWidow (my DW) has noticed my interest in Airstream but, to my
dismay, said she didn't like the LOOK of an Airstream.   <sigh>

Are you kidding?  If I find myself traveling in a nice Airstream trailer, I
will feel lucky, indeed.  Since this particular dream is a few years further
off now that I can paper my walls cheaper with my Qwest stock than I can
using regular wallpaper, I didn't - and won't, press the issue with her -
yet.

There IS a ray of hope, though.  Over a year ago the glossy Airstream
trailer brochures stayed next to the WC in the bathroom upstairs for many
days.  I'm sure she looked them over.   :)

I *KNOW* this wonderful woman could get into (and fit into) the WBCCI.  She
has expressed an interest in joining a camping club occasionally over the
years.

Please forgive my ramblings, especially those PAYING extra to download this.
We are having fun with two of our three daughters and ALL 3 grandkids this
Easter weekend, the youngest born just 30 DAYS ago.  The youngest daughter,
her great husband and two kiddos (not to mention DW) are asleep upstairs.

Fer pete's sake, if you REPLY to this "epic", please SNIP most my words so
others on the list don't have to pay for them more than once!   <grin>
