True,  most people do tow with trucks, and I would guess that most 
trucks are less than 10 years old.  You would be hard pressed to find a 
car built since 1995 with a towing capacity of more than 3500 lbs, try 
and find an Airstream which has a gross weight of less than 3500 lbs.  
My 23' Safari has a gross weight of 5800 lbs and the new Liner has a dry 
weight of 4950 lbs and I hope to keep the total less than 6000 lbs.

With few exceptions you have to go prior to 1979 for a car with a decent 
towing capacity and I would guess that most people would rather have a 
much newer tow vehicle.  Unless of course you go to a vintage event 
where you will find all types and ages of tow vehicles.
