Re: [A/S] trailer size and a suburban....was Another Question

hi maryann
2 suggestions.....

first try putting the question topic in the subject line....something like,
'trailer length and towing issues' or 'are small trailers easier to tow?' that
way future questions won't say......."and another question" without a clue to
the topic....if you ever need to search the answers it will be helpful.

second if you are certain to buy a 3/4 ton q steer suburban, you can find the
towing capacity and absolute load capacity (gvcwr) for this rig for what ever
year you buy. then you can limit the trailer to something under this
number....really better at 70-80%. vintage trailers generally weigh and carry
less, so a longer model...say a soverign of the road or excella would work. on
the new trailer side a classic 30 with slide would be too heavy and a 31
without close, while a 34 would be over the limit. any of the new 2 axel
safaris or internationals would be fine too.

someone else can comment on the issue of suburban wheel base and trailer
length.

just don't get a trailer that is too close to the suburbans tow limits because
once loaded you'll be too fat for the road. pulling, braking, hills and mileage
will be poor.

it really is tight for 2 people with gear/pets in any bambi....yes the bambis
are cute and popular. the dealers love selling them too because if you do like
trailer life at all, you'll be back soon for something longer.....

cheers
