Re: [A/S] Replacement Furnaces

Dave,

The smaller 20 thousand Btu furnaces are the same size. The larger one
are not.
It was our practice to block the new furnace up to align with the
original holes in the wall for the exhaust and intake air. It is
necessary to build an extension to connect to the in floor metal
ducting. For those with flexible ducting simply connect them to the
provided holes. One those models with a gas connection on the opposite
side of the original it is possible to extend the line with a flex hose
route so it does not rest on the furnace. The thermostat wiring will
work with the new set up.

Each Suburban furnace comes with the thermostat. It is an older
technology bi-metal mechanical thermostat. Works fine with existing wiring.

The new electronic thermostats are made for the industry's air
conditioner manufacturers. No AC manufacturer also makes a furnace. So a
common interface with either of the two brands of furnaces is used.
After all, fancy electronics or not it still only takes two wires to
control a furnace.
