International Rally and Club Reorganization teen queen contest

The question was, is the teen queen contest necessary

I think it's great to have activities for the youth accompanying their
parents to the rally. However, I think the teen queen idea has really
outlived its time. Since I haven't attended one of these big rallies,
perhaps you do some of the activities I've suggested below. If so, good
for you.

How about some team work on environmental issues around trailers or
short workshops on driving/backing a trailer for the older ones, great
travel trailer stories, Trailer life skills like safely using the
propane systems, keeping the 12 Volt system going, hitching up properly,
checks before you drive away, setting up mirrors, checking tires, and
even who learned the most trailering skills. These could be
adult-led(both men and women) with older youth assistants or vice-versa
to provide positive role models.

All of these workshops would give the youth opportunities to gain skills
that move them from the kid category to the young adult category that
most adolescents strive for. These should include both boys & girls.

It would also help them feel like they could take on a trailer when
they're a little older and perhaps keep the organization filling with
younger members that will help keep it alive. The workshops would let
them participate in a more engaging pasttime that a Miss anything
contest. And consider looking at Cubs, Brownies, Boy and Girl Scout
badges that might be worked on at the rally...

This is a chance for updating in the reorganization process and making
the activities more like what younger parents might direct their
children to.

I know that re-organization is a daunting task sometimes, and I wish you
the very best of results.
