[A/S] Need a photo of spare tire mount
Specifically, I need a photo of the latch that locks the carrier in
the raised travel position.
I just got one of these carriers and cut the belly skin out of my
Airstream tonight. The carrier didn't come with instructions, but I
do have the vague ones from the service manual. The detail for the
latch is not very clear.
I might also add that my front stabilizer jacks stick out about 1/2"
beyond the frame, just below where the hinged end of the carrier
bolts to the frame. Tapped holes are already in the frame, but I am
going to have to make some 1/2" spacers out of scrap metal or scrap
treated lumber, both of which I have. This will move the whole unit
forward and may slightly affect the location of the latch.
Another thing which might complicate matters is that I have a "goody
box" mounted on the tongue, sitting down between the A-frame and just
behind the propane tanks. It's possible that this box might have to
be raised or the latch installed a little differently. The main
propane line may also have to be offset in the same location. Until
I bolt the carrier to the frame and swing it up, I won't know how it
will come together.
Please send any photos to blickcd@aol.com
FYI this is a 1979 31' International center bath. Photos of it are
in the photos folder under a similar title. As far as I know the
design for the spare tire carrier has not changed, so send a photo
regardless of what model year you have.
Thanks,
Christopher
