[A/S] 2wd/4wd/'97 34ft Excella

some opinions needed.
the local dealer has made a huge ordering mistake,,,,and has on his lot in 
CT, an F250/Powerstroke/SuperCab/TowCommand System/XLT. with the standard OPEN 
3.73 rear axle. I mean our open differantion Peugeot can't make it up our 
gravel driveway sometimes.! So I was thinking if it was there in the fall, I'd get 
a good deal on it and put in a PowerTrax Locking diff, about 1200.00 was the 
price quoted. or for about the same price I can get a 30,000mile used '04.
debating on whether the locking rear end would be good enough, for backing up 
a 34ft Airstream at campgrounds/rallys etc......or should I just get the 4wd. 
I assume the 2wd will get better milage and ride better solo.
Now on another note, someone I know has a VERY neglected '97 34ft Excella the 
needs alot of work, no dents, good awnings, but filthy, and the the vent over 
the rear queen bed has been gone since the FL hurricanes,,,,so it's been 
raining on the queen size bed. it's been sitting in a storage field for four 
years, I was thinking of offering 10 or 12......this is the year that supposedly 
has the weight and balence issues......and he'd ran out and bought a dually, 
shortly after buying the trailer, (6mos) so I think he had the problem? opinions?
