Re: [A/S] Mileage better or not with diesel

I suspect any mileage problems truly were because of the computer.

I can only speak for my own 2000 F-250 powerstroke, but when I put in a BD
chip, mileage immediately went up between 3-4 mpg. This went along with an
increase at the same time in both hp and in torque. The engine appears to
have been deliberately detuned as delivered from the factory, so as to
prevent the possibility of damage to the engine by the owner.

For example, the information that came with the vehicle stated that the
engine could not be easily redlined. I can easily do that now that I have
the chip. However, a little common sense use of the truck provides a much
better running engine. BTW, I am now upwards of 143,000 miles, and still
going strong.
