[A/S] Re: Airstream Book or Website Recommendation

Greetings Jim!

Airstreams are manufactured in Jackson Center, Ohio where they have
been manufactured since the 1950s. It is the only factory today - -
prior to about 1980, there was also a California plant that was
located in the Los Angeles suburbs. You can learn more about the
Airstream plant at: http://www.airstream.com/company/index.html . I
do know that the factory has been increasing the production to meet
the increasing demand for new Airstreams, but haven't noticed the
current production figures - - the plant is currently being expanded
according to what I have read. There will be an Airstream Homecoming
in Jackson Center this spring - - May 31st through June 5th (this
will be the second annual) while I missed the first last year, I am
planning to be there with my '78 Minuet and '75 Cadillac towcar.
There will be Airstream products of all vintages in attendance at
this event. Another opportunity to meet Airstream owners with a wide
variety of coaches is the WBCCI International Rally that will be held
in Springfield, Missouri this year (June 27 through July 5th) - -
visitors are welcome at many of the activities, especially the
Vintage Airstream Club Open House that is held during the
International in the Rally parking area (most of the Vintage owners
open their coaches and invite the public in for tours - - my Minuet
will be there with The Long, Long, Trailer playing in the VCR.

So far as reading materials, the Vintage Airstream Club maintains a
list of books that are about the only ones on the market that
directly address Airstreams. You can find the VAC reading list at:
http://www.airstream.net/reading.html .

If you are interested in learning more about the WBCCI (Wally Byam
Caravan Club International) you can find their website at:
http://www.wbcci.org/ . The club is open to owners of all Airstream
products.

Good luck with your research!
