RE: [A/S] GPS Use
Thanks to Blair, Steve & Mary, and T&C,
Thanks for your input on hooking up to a GPS unit.
I just spent another couple of hours trying to get my USB GPS Unit from
DeLorme to communicate with Microsoft Street & Trips. Street and Trips GPS
setup dialog box says it is looking for a GPS input on COM3 and there is not
one there. I tries all three USB ports on my computer, and gave the GPS
Setup "search" at least 10 tries on each connection with no luck. When I
poke around in the "Device Manager" I can't find the DeLorme GPS on any of
the connections or ports when it is connected and working with Street Atlas
2005.
This is worse than hooking up to my cell phone after a recent hard drive
replacement (REAL UNFUN) and having the phone showing up on COM4 and the
Modem showing up on COM3. After three sessions of a couple of hours each, I
finally got them together on COM5, but I could find and move them around
after much poking around. I can't find or move anything with this GPS
miscommunication problem.
