Patti - just shop around....(also decide which is most important priority 
wise for your individual needs)...safety - visibility - matching looks - 
versatility - it's more often a situation of a salesman not knowing or not 
caring to look a little further in their files - regarding availability of 
the type of glass you want.

And keep this in mind - get what you want....not what you have to put up 
with...it's your driving comfort and safety that is most important.

It's just my opinion - but in my situation - my eyes can't handle seeing 
through all the deep tint - so in "my" case it's...."trust me...I can't see 
through it".

I  tried to get a Tundra  without the deep tint - but one was not available 
locally - though I'd seen Tundras on the street without it.  I asked around and got various inputs from sales people and parts etc.  I finally found that standard tint was available - and I got it from Toyota through their parts system and had it retrofitted into my Tundra Limited.  (and curiously - it made the truck sparkle to look at from the street - it balanced it out and added to it's over all style I thought.  The truck was dark green- and the standard tint is a light green - and the whole thing just looked sharp) and most importantly I had great and crisp 360 degree vision day and night, wet or dry weather.

You never see a new Suburban anymore with standard tint all the way around - 
except once in a great while.  I assume it's a special order.  Also - when 
you see news clips from around the world you see new Suburbans and new 
Excursions without deep tint - so somewhere...that standard tint is 
available.

Also - and here it's just my opinion...but with all the vans on the road 
without side windows (I am not talking about service vehicles - but private 
use customized vans) I have this question to pose:

"How many of those drivers are using their mirrors....and how many are 
driving blind...and just assuming that everyone will get out of their way".  
Consider how many custom vans are loaded with deep tint and curtains and 
Nav systems and DVD players running and X-Boxes running and stereos...and 
kids multi-tasking....and often... there is way more going on in those 
vehicles -  than most drivers care to put up with...so they just zone it 
all out.

(I have been with friends on two occasions recently - in their option 
loaded SUV - when the Nav system and the CD player and several children 
arguments and discussions going at the same time....that the driver was 
basically overwhelmed...and the DVD player was not even on!)

I always give fancy vehicles with super deep tint and or no side windows a 
wide berth....because I know how many blind spots they have to deal with 
either knowingly or unknowingly or 
don't-care-ingly....

I guess we can add "window tinting" to the list along with trailer hitches 
and gas vs. electric and on and on....of topics which can be debated from a 
zillion perspectives.  Hopefully from it all -those shopping and/or mulling 
over repair concepts can get a variety of ideas and then "boldly go forth 
into new territory"....(oops - now I'm morphing into Star Wars....)
