Hi Patti,
I have one of the Hensley Controllers, and it works as good as the Jordan,
and hopefully will outlast it quiet a bit sense it has no moving parts. That
is what sold me on it when I changed from the Jordan I had on my last truck.
You can't beat the Jordan when it is setup and working properly. I did have
some minor problems with mechanical failures of parts on my Jordan. One kept
running my battery down on the truck, because it would not let the readout
turn off - it was a small switch that would hang up sometimes. The other was
the cable and mounting kept getting out of adjustment after several weeks on
the road. I would buy another one if the Hensley type was not available. One
way to reduce the ware on the mechanical stuff is to detach the cable from
the brake peddle  - like it is designed to do - when you are not towing the
trailer, just be sure and remember to hook it back up as part of your hookup
procedure. The trailer will remind you if you don't.
BTW you will really like towing with Diesel with the Allison Tranny. My 2004
GMC 2500 HD is my first diesel, and it tows wonderful. I am still adjusting
to the dealing with diesel as a fuel, but will get there, because of the
smooth towing capability of the high torque diesel and the almost
unnoticeable shift smoothness of the Allison. I put a 45 Gal replacement
fuel tank in mine, so I can tow all day on a tank of fuel. I get about 13
MPG pulling the 34' Limited, and am getting very close to 20 MPH solo in the
flat lands here in Eastern NC. I only have 14,000 miles on the truck, and
the mileage is still creeeeeeping up on each trip.
