[A/S] Re: Airstream One info
I saw this thing at the RV Industry Assoc trade show last December. The staff were calling
it "the wired trailer" there. It has two doors (front and rear, both on the curbside), two
couches (again, front and rear), and for show purposes is covered with a vinyl wrap so it
appears painted on the exterior.
What the magazine writer failed to acknowledge is that it lacks a bathroom and a
bedroom, so it's more a high-tech showcase than a practical travel trailer. The kitchen
and fridge are still there, though, so no problem keeping it stocked with Jolt and Mountain
Dew for those late-night Internet gaming sessions. ;-)
The electronically darkening windows are cool. It also had a webcam which was
uploading images of everyone who walked through it. Mostly I liked the trailer because
they were broadcasting free wi-fi from it, so I could get online while I was at the show.
They were using a box that picked up Sprint's latest high-speed cellular service and re-
broadcast it to the general area using wi-fi. Basically, the trailer is a geek's paradise.
