I think that the length of the trailer isn't as much of an
issue. A really small trailer can be hard to tow because it
doesn't stay put back there. If you have a good, appropriate
hitch and tow vehicle and they are set up properly for each
other, it's not all that scary.
A lot of people start off with a tiny trailer and work their
way up to a size that is comfortable and useful. How you are
going to use the trailer is important. I live in my 29'er
now, and wouldn't want a smaller one.
I have no opinion about the years. Mine is a 1973 and I love
it. A good floor plan is probably more important. And the
newer it is the more it will cost you.
