He didn't...... and no one has to have an Airstream to be on the list...... 
the first sentence of the list homepage message says, "A list for devotees of 
Airstream and Argosy trailers... and motorhomes....of course, but others are 
welcome. We have members who have Silver Streaks and Streamlines and Avions."  

A little history: Ewan started the old list because he was writing an article 
about Airstreams and wanted information.  Once the article was finished he 
wasn't all that interested anymore and asked me to take over the list.

Then, after a while we changed servers and one day the list was gone.  
Fortunately I had recently downloaded the list membership roster and emailed each 
person that I was restarting it here on Yahoo, only it was egroups at the time.

That was August of 2000. I just checked on the list homepage to see.
