MaryAnn, don't ever think settle for staying home! It's great getting
on the road in an Airstream. Tow vehicles/capacity just happens to be
one of the hottest debates on this list. Wait until the opinions start
flying on hitches too.
Here's my 2 cents. We started towing our 27' with the only thing we had
available at the time - a Grand Cherokee. I can almost hear the gasps
now. But it wasn't long before we bought a Hensley hitch, which helped
but not enough, so quickly added a 3/4 ton Suburban.
Looking back, I now know it was an unsafe combination that we started
with. But we found that out pretty quickly when we tried it and made
changes. You have to jump in somewhere and find out for yourself.
From my experience, it was pretty easy to tell there was a problem.
Just make sure you're in a position to make adjustments if you need to
and do it quickly so you don't create safety problems for yourself and
others on the road.
