I have pretty much the exact trailer you describe.  I have towed many miles 
including through mountains with a 3/4 ton GMC Suburban with 7.4 liter engine.  
It did excellent.

Last summer I got a 3/4 ton Avalanche with 8.1 liter.  So far I am VERY 
pleased with it.  Much better mpg than the older Suburban (aprox. 15 mpg 
highway not towing).

I use a reese dual cam.  Never experienced sway so I can't comment on how it 
handles it.
