Thanks for all of the suggestions, I'm going to print this out and
run down everything. My 
guess was that it was some off-gassing going on. The story is that
the unit was not used 
for 2-3 years. The carpet seems to be in great shape so maybe it has
been replaced. The 
furnishings show very little wear though so it could be all original. 

I'll let you know if we find anything.
