I have seen that done in 2002 ...
on I25 S bound thru CO and later down about Albuq.
three or four caravans of one guy driving a Honda Camry with 5 or 6 more hooked
on behind, getting parts off the back one as necessary to keep the front one
running.  I assume they were heading for Mexico.
