Thanks for the input. I have considered the option of sleeping on the 
boat. In fact I owned a small trailer sailor (West Wight Potter 19) 
before the Boston Whaler; however, the cabin got very little use 
because it was so cramped. A boat that is comfortable enough for 
sleeping aboard is usually expensive and hard to trailer. An 
Airstream would offer much more comfort per $ (not to mention cool 
factor). Experience has shown that we are not crossing any oceans so 
I would rather invest in a good home on wheels rather than a big boat 
that would only be used for short trips.

Also, I was thinking of going on long trips over land so having my 
wife follow with the boat will not work. I agree that an Airstream on 
a barge would be pretty whimsical sight and may make a nice houseboat 
for sheltered waters.

Bob: Do you know which company manufactures the rigs for carrying 
boats in the pickup's bed? I would like to check it out even if I 
have to upgrade to a bigger truck. In fact, I was even considering 
looking for an MDT flatbed wrecker to use a tow vehicle/boat carrier.
