I carry my 3000 in the truck as well and we are going on 4-5 years 
with the unit and so far it has never failed to start with the 
original start battery...I use high test gas and it seems to last 
forever... if only the truck could run 8 hours on 3 gal of gas...

What a marvelous generator.. The 2000 units were not available when we 
bought our 3000 and I am still torn over which would be better, 2000 
with a spare 2000 or 3000... I think I might go a pair of 2000 units 
and run them in parallel when a little extra power is needed... 
although the 3000 runs everything we have (one thing at a time)

With the 3000 you have to think in terms of having one 23 amp max.
circuit available and not run the microwave and the air conditioner at 
the same time...I had to turn off the electronic idle control to get 
it to hold the airconditioner... otherwise it would stall out and drop 
the AC when the Airconditioner cycled..
