Rick,

If I understand you and your art work correctly, you simply want me 
to stagger the splices in the two wires, with the dielectric 
overlapped somewhere in between.  Under no circumstances should my 
wire splices be directly across from each other.

Just one question about heat shrink tubing:  I only used that stuff a 
few times while working at a machine shop in college, and we shrunk 
it with a heat gun.  I don't own a heat gun now, so would a hair 
dryer work?  How about holding a blow torch flame near the tubing, 
but of course not making contact?  Worst case, I could always rent a 
heat gun.
