[A/S] Re: Fiber Optic Rear Light Indicators
Greetings Dave!
It seems that the Fiber Optics option was limited to the 1970s
Airstreams - - I think the feature was discontinued about the time
that Thor assumed ownership of Airstream in 1979. It is one of
those features that I would like to see as standard in all motor
vehicles - - I really miss it when I drive one of my vehicles that
doesn't have fiber optic lamp monitors. I have never owned an
Airstream with the feature but my Cadillac tow vehcile has it as
does my '84 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible, and my '85
Oldsmobile Delta 88 Luxury Sedan. It is a wonderful feature when it
works, but if someone unfamiliar with the system replaces a bulb its
operation can become erratic (based upon my experiences with the GM
vehicles mentioned above). I am not certain whether it is still
being offered or if it has been discontinued on cars as well - - I
do know that it was available on the Cadillac Brougham when it was a
rear-drive sedan with the 5.7 liter V8.
