Al,

Normally each of our unit rallies has one or two hosts
assigned.  The host(s)are responsible for organizing
meals, events and tours, social hours, night time
activities, greeters to help with parking, and any
printed materials.  In this case we are calling it a
no host since the only thing I will be responsible for
is deciding upon the campground and the pot luck time
and day.  It will be up to the individual to make
their own campsite arrangements.  Our folks consider
this a no host rally...I consider it an informal one.

Not the way I do them.  In our WBCCI unit happy hour
is usually consider the social hour.  It doesn't mean
that on the spur of the moment we might all get
together to bend the elbow.

Because many of our members who attend think that the
local rally black out date begins in June and ends in
July.  Some leave early prior to the International and
some depart late, some don't want to rally too soon
before or too soon after.  We just know the majority
of our membership doesn't attend.  In all likelyhood
we probably would not compete with the same week as
the International because its a holiday, and its way
too hard to get campsites anyway.  My gut feeling is
we probably would do it the 2nd or 3rd week of July. 
Again this may ruffle some since they don't want us to
provide an alternate choice for the month.  In some
thinkings having a July rally, even if it doesn't
coincide date wise gives folks an alternative event to
the International.  They would rather not have
competition.

We will have a new local President in 2006 who wants
to shake things up so I know we will be doing some
things differently.  I'm not leading a single handed
crusade on this.  As noted earlier by David, there are
two groups of folks out there and we really need to
cater to both.  I respect the traditions and the
practices that are there today.  I'm just saying that
there is room to continue activities for those older
folks who like the current format and also plan rallys
that cater to the younger still working group.  My
choice of staying in our unit will be entirely driven
by our local board and if they are willing to meet the
needs of the traditionalists and us newer folk.  If
they close the door, then the Club does not meet my
needs and my $65 in dues is better spent making me
happy in other ways.
