Hi Christopher, 

I know others are answering many of your questions, but I want
to provide you some information you may not know. That is if
the existing tanks do not have a direct replacement valve that is
identical to the existing valves the law does not demand a change.
So, if your existing tanks have the electrical connection to show
tank levels on the board inside the trailer, or the existing valves
have a level indicator gauge showing remaining level of propane in
the tanks and there is not a replacement valve with those same
configurations, then it is legal for the propane dealer to continue
filling your existing tanks until there is a direct replacement. They
also do not have to change horizontal tank valves and some
tractor tank valves as there are no direct replacement valves for
them either. If you are questioned by a propane dealer ask him
to look at the regulations that demand the change and look at
the exclusions contained therein and that will allow him to continue
to fill yours.
