RE: [A/S] New Disc Brakes/Hensley

Hi Dan,,
I purchased a 1998 34' Limited FK in 2000. We love it. I towed it 50,000+
miles with a 2500 GMC Extended cab Short Box truck using a Hensley, and had
no problems at all. I pulled it through 45 of the lower 48 states, 9
Canadian Provinces and all the major roads in Alaska to get the miles. I
can't imagine a better rig to drive. I never had one hint of sway or
movement out of the trailer during travel on any kind of road at speeds up
to 75 MPH on the Interstates. The only time I have had a problem is on the
Interstates with the uneven expansion joints that cause the trailer to rock
up and down - front to back.
I traded the truck in January 2004 for a 2500 HD GMC Crew Cab 4X4 with the
short box. It is also my first Diesel truck with the Duramax / Allison power
train. I have only towed the trailer about 1000 miles with this truck, and
all in flat country, but think it is going to work very well. I am heading
out for South Western Montana (Ennis) for some fly fishing in August, and
will see how the truck works through the Appalachians and the Rockies.
I have the SmarTire System for monitoring the tire pressure in the trailer
tires, and got 45,000+ miles out of the first set of tires I put on the
trailer just after I first bought it. I just put a new set of Load Range D
Marathons on it last month.
Let me know if I can answer any specific questions about towing a 1998 34'
Front Kitchen.
