Most break controllers have a manual override but the trouble that when ythey 
are mounted they are genuraly in an out of the way place and in an emergency 
and pannic situtation I doubt if any one could find it in time .
I like to apply my trailer breaks manualy in the slowly rolling stops 
intrafic I have a Jorden controller and I have to lean forward and reach down to 
manualy apply the breaks. I n a pannic situtation(and I have been there and done 
that)I never thought about going through the motions required to apply the 
breaks manualy.I have given much thought abour engineering a rod and handle that 
could be easily reached by the steering wheel.
The !st Tractor and trailer I drove (back in the dark ages) did not dave any 
connection between the cab and trailer breahs the breaks were always applied 
manualy.
