Mary,
Our '02 A/S wound up with a fine scratch in the finish (did not actually
scratch the aluminum) on its first outing due to a small wayward tree
branch.  I carefully used an auto swirl-remover polish to carefully
polish it out.  Also the product your salesman mentioned is Walbernize
(www.walbernize.com).  Stuff has been in use on A/Ss for years and does
a excellent job of protecting the finish.  From my experience, it will
NOT cover a scratch.
