[A/S] Fantastic Fan leak, how to fix?

I have two Fantastic Fans that were installed by a dealer as "after market"  The 
trailer is a 1999 Safari.  I have leaks on both sides of the trailer under the fan.  I took 
off some calk up on the roof around the fan and found dirt under the calk and rusty 
screws.  

Has any one done the repair themselves? What is involved?  We live about 500 miles 
away from Can Am or another dealer (we are in Northern NY State). Should I do the 
job myself; what am I getting into?   Any hints on repair would be appreciated.  I think 
I've got to remove the fans completely and calk then drop the fans back in replacing 
the screws and then putting calk round the edges.  Am I correct on this?  What kind of 
calk should be used? Any hints would be appreciated.
