I have a remote-reading thermometer that uses a radio link to report the 
outside temp to the thermometer.

I don't know if a humidity gadget like this is available, but if it is, it 
would act as a moisture sensor if placed inside the bottom skin.  My 
thermometer outside gadget (about 3" x 2" x 1/2") uses batteries for power 
and is powerful enough to transmit through a brick wall, so going through 
the AS wood floor wouldn't be a problem. Just open up a hole, put it inside 
the skin, seal the hole and watch for high humidity.

I just did a GOOGLE search on [remote humidity wireless]. Lots of hits - 
maybe one of them would be cheap enough to try out...
