John, I don't have any experience towing with a straight shift.  I have owned 
a number of vehicles with a standard transmission, but have not used them for 
towing.  Well, come to think of it, I did tow with my 1967 Corvette with a 
390 HP 427 CI engine.  I pulled a trailer made from a pick up bed and rear axle 
from Kentucky to Colorado, but that was a number of years ago.
