H John,

You don't *need* a diesel..... but I know of alot of people who have switched 
from gas to diesel and are happy they did. I can't remember anyone sayng 
they'e gone from diesel back to gas.

For my money, the "perfect size truck" is a 3/4 ton with a long wheelbase and 
a crew cab. 

You also don't *need* a 4WD, I didn't go looking for one but when I found my 
truck it happened to have it so I got it.  Now, I'm really glad I did.  There 
have been quite a few times that I've needed it.  That could be because I 
don't worry much about where I go because I know I can get out of it. It has come 
in handy quite a few times in wet grass, where my truck tires just spin.

Heck, if you check the archives you'll see you can pull the trailer with a 
tractor.....  <g>
